What is the Art of Jin Shin?

The Art of Jin Shin is a gentle Japanese healing practice that harmonizes body, mind, and spirit through the power of touch. This ancient art uses simple hand positions to restore balance and promote natural healing.

How It Works

Practitioners use their hands as "jumper cables" to hold specific points on the body called Safety Energy Locks (SELs). These 26 locations on each side of the body can become congested, blocking the free flow of energy and leading to disharmony or dis-ease.

By gently holding combinations of SELs, we release congestion and allow energy to flow naturally - down the front of the body and up the back. When all SELs are open and energy flows freely, the body can function optimally and heal itself.

A Practice for Everyone

The Art of Jin Shin is simple, effective, and accessible to anyone. You can practice it on yourself or share it with loved ones. In fact, self-practice is an integral part of the art - we naturally hold certain fingers or body locations when we need them, like a baby sucking their thumb for comfort.

How long does it take?

  • A complete circulation pattern takes 20 minutes
  • Holding a single SEL or finger for a few minutes is beneficial
  • Any time you mindfully place your hands, you're practicing Jin Shin
  • There's no limit to how much time you can spend on self-care

More Than a Technique

The Art of Jin Shin encourages a life of simplicity, calmness, patience, and self-containment. It's the philosophy and spirit of the work, not just the technique, that draws people to this practice.

Through self-study and daily practice, Jin Shin becomes a way of life. By listening to and observing yourself on spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical levels, you learn to energize, support, and harmonize your total being.

Experience the Benefits

As SELs release and balance is restored, you may experience:

  • Physical harmony and relief from tension
  • Mental clarity and emotional peace
  • Spiritual well-being and happiness
  • A deep sense of connection to your innate healing wisdom

In this state of harmony, true healing can occur.
